E-book fans now have more options over at Barnes & Noble, as the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A joins the lineup as the Galaxy Tab A NOOK.

Straight off the bat, the rebranded tablet is no powerhouse, as it focuses on providing all the right stuff for the best reading experience it can deliver. That means the hardware components under the hood are more or less modest.

With that said, it sports a 7-inch TFT display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution and houses Samsung's home-built Exynos 3475 chip along with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 200 GB via a microSD card.

On the software side of things, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and comes with B&N Readouts that gives quick access to the bookseller's vast selection of offers and whatnot.

Of course, it's also preloaded with NOOK Profiles, a feature that lets users each get a personalized experience on the e-book reader for up to six members. On top of that, an update is scheduled to arrive in September, and it will give users access to about 80,000 audiobooks plus 9,500 free titles.

As for the pricing and availability, it's already up for grabs at the official website with a price tag of $139.99.

The retailer also has a special treat for existing customers, offering an upgrade to the Galaxy Tab A for only $99.99 for a limited time only. Barnes & Noble Members who participate in the promo will also get a free cover that's worth $39.95 to boot. To take part in the deal, buyers will have to trade in or present a proof of purchase of any NOOK device.

Just like the other devices in the brood, it's bundled together with free lifetime in-store support.

It should be pointed out that this new tablet is the perfect choice for those who found the 9.6-inch Galaxy Tab E NOOK or the 8-inch Galaxy Tab S2 NOOK to be either too big or pricey.

"The Samsung Galaxy Tab A NOOK is the perfect device for customers who are looking for a leading tablet that combines the latest features and a great reading experience at an unbeatable price," Fred Argir, Barnes & Noble chief digital officer, says.
