Apple's Sept. 7 event is knocking at the door and iPhone fans are fretting in expectation of the latest smartphone from the company.

We compiled the most recent rumors and bits of certain information so you know what to expect from the upcoming iPhone 7. Here are all the details about the smartphone, in no particular order of importance.

New Design

Those who were seduced by the iPhone 6 can rejoice because the iPhone 7 takes a leaf out of that design book. The good news is that the latest Apple handset will feature a cleaner design, with the repositioning of some antenna lines to the sides instead of the back of the device. It may not sound like much, but it is easier on the eyes.

Better Specs

If Apple wants to navigate the VR waters, 3 GB of RAM will certainly come in handy. Otherwise, the screen will get upgraded to 1080p for the iPhone 7, while the iPhone 7 Plus is said to sport 2K resolution.

(No) Headphone Jack

Judging by the number of headlines referring to it, news about the headphone jack seems to be the main story with the iPhone 7. Apple is said to renounce the traditional jack in its upcoming handset, which would require all compatible headphones to feature support for wireless or the Lightning port.

A slew of pros and cons can be made for Lightning port headphones, but the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack, a staple of audio consumer electronics, will be a tough pill to swallow for many.

Possible New Pods

With the discarding of the headphone jack, Apple will need to replace its standard headphones with something better. Despite rumors being doubtful at best, two variants have surfaced. The first is that Apple will launch new EarPods that pack a Lightning connector, or the company will test the waters and go full wireless for its future earbuds.

Camera

Rumors from earlier this year hint at the possibility that Apple will feature a second camera on the iPhone 7's back, which will let it capture higher-quality photos or a zoomed-in view.

The phone would not be the first to attempt this either, since the P9 from Huawei demonstrated that a secondary camera (B&W, no less) adds significant sharpness and detail. The G5 from LG also taps into a second camera for zoomed-out perspective.

Despite the fact that only the iPhone 7 Plus will pack a second camera, the iPhone 7 is expected to come with image stabilization, a feature which has, so far, been embedded strictly in the Plus line.

Standard Storage

Apple fans are probably shouting "Finally!" at this point, as the company promises to start the default storage space at 32 GB instead of 16 GB. The 32 GB load shows that Apple finally realized what year it is and is ready to accommodate more media on its phone.

Subtle Home Button

Apple is purportedly putting effort into reworking its home button, and there is a high chance that it will not click anymore. This means that the new button will be pressure-sensitive and will only seem like it's moving. The trick is not new, as the company offers the gimmick on some MacBooks.

Back In Black

Users had new color options in the iPhone 6s edition, and rose gold was a positive change for many. However, many Apple fans have been waiting to get their hands on a dead-serious black handset, and 2016 might be the year for them. Keep in mind that this information should be taken with a grain of salt, but the iPhone 7 might just follow in the steps of Apple Watch's black finishing.

Water Resistance

Steps towards waterproofing the iPhone were made since the iPhone 6s used a rubber gasket, and the purported removal of the headphone jack could make the latest Apple smartphone environment-proof.

There is a strong chance for the iPhone 7 to be at least splashproof, as an important number of flagship Android devices already feature tight-sealing.

Price

No information indicates that the pricing will change when compared to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. That means that you will see the iPhone 7's starting price at $649.

Grain Of Salt

As with every big launch, a few rumors permeated the media but they are almost certainly removed from truth. Among these ideas, we count the dual SIM tray, the possibility of a blue color option, a smart connector and wireless charging.

Apple might have tested some of these in-house, but the current evidence suggests that they will be baked into future editions of the iPhone, if ever.
