Sega officially announces the Sonic Mania collector's edition, and it's loaded with a ton of goodies that'll make the day of any fan out there.

Right off the bat, there's a 12-inch statue of the game's main man — or hedgehog, to be precise — striking a pose on top of a Sega Genesis platform. Other than being the perfect piece to decorate any room, the pseudo console has a power switch that can be flipped to play the familiar "SEEGAA" startup audio.

What's more, the bundle includes a Sega cartridge cast with a golden ring and a metallic collector's card that has a download key for the game. As a cherry on top, the Genesis-themed deluxe collector's box features an artwork that tugs at the nostalgia strings in the hearts of gamers here and there.

Keeping up with Sonic's speed, the game will run at 60 fps with "pixel-perfect physics." That means it'll deliver a fluid gameplay with graphical improvements across the board. There's even an all-new drop dash to boot.

Although Sonic fans are across the globe, the Sonic Mania collector's edition is unfortunately available only in North America for a limited time.

As for the price, it'll hold back customers by $69.99 or $89.99 CAD, and it's up for preorder via Amazon, EBGames and VGP.

It's expected to roll out to the PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2017, and even though Amazon has it listed for a May 31 launch, Sega has yet to give out an official release date. In other words, the retailer may have just written down a placeholder date.

Long story short, 2017 is going to be a big year for the iconic hedgehog, and to make things more interesting, there's also an upcoming untitled game that's currently dubbed only as Project Sonic, which was revealed at the 2016 Comic-Con along with Sonic Mania.
