Unwrapped at the IFA 2016, the Sony Xperia X Compact is now finally up for preorder on Amazon, and it's just perfect for those who are looking for a pretty powerful smartphone with a small form factor.

Going straight for the specs, it sports a 4.6-inch display with a 720 x 1,280 resolution that clocks in at 319 ppi, and it's topped off with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, it packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 that consists of four 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 and 2 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 along with an Adreno 510 GPU.

Memory-wise, it houses 3 GB worth of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage that's expandable up to 256 GB of additional space via a microSD card.

For the mobile photography enthusiasts, the Xperia X Compact is rocking a 23-megapixel rear-facing camera that features triple image sensing, predictive hybrid autofocus and fast capture technologies, and it's capable of taking low-light photo up to ISO 12,800. On the front, Sony fitted it with a 5-megapixel shooter that supports 1080p.

Out of the box, it's going to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat is in the pipeline.

Meeting the standards of smartphones nowadays, it's loaded with a USB Type-C port, components for fingerprint security and sensors for accelerometer and gyroscopic, to name a few.

Last but not least, to keep the lights on through the day, it has a decent 2,700 mAh battery pack.

Now that that's cleared up, the Xperia X Compact is up for preorder via Amazon with a price tag of $499.99, and it's available in black, blue and white — in the United States, at least. As for the release date, it's expected to start shipping out on Sept. 25.

Before wrapping things up, it's also worth mentioning that the smartphone recently became a part of Sony's Open Device program.

"Today, we extended the build guides to include one of the newest Xperia devices: the Xperia X Compact. With the support of this latest device, you can follow the AOSP N build guide and AOSP M build guide to flash your phone," Oskar Jönsson of Sony said back in Sept. 16.
