Google has a neat new travel app called Google Trips, aiming to serve as a personal travel guide to make trips easier to organize for modern tourists.

The new Google Trips app is designed to plan complete itineraries, banking on automatic trip organization by pulling data from your Gmail account. Google already knows quite a lot about your vacation plans if you use Google Maps and Gmail, so why not tap into that pool of knowledge to help you out planning your trip?

Through Google Trips, Google will leverage all that knowledge and wrap it up nicely in a useful app for Android and iOS. According to a GoodThink study, as many as 74 percent of travelers find that figuring out all the details of their trip is the most stressful thing about traveling.

Google Trips aims to handle at least some of that stress and reduce the whole hassle of organizing a trip.

"Google Trips is a personalized tour guide in your pocket," notes the company. "Each trip contains key categories of information, including day plans, reservations, things to do, food and drink, and more, so you have everything you need at your fingertips."

Moreover, Google Trips also supports offline use, allowing users to "download" each trip so they have all they need on their phone, even when they don't have an internet connection.

The app collects travel reservation from users' Gmail accounts and organizes the data into individual trips. Selecting a trip will pull up a screen that lets users browse nearby attractions, saved places, reservations and so on. For instance, if you have a booking confirmation for a flight to Prague, Google Trips will automatically set up a Prague trip that includes popular attractions, restaurant suggestions, quick links to your flight and hotel reservation information and more. So, rather than having to dig through your inbox to find the relevant emails, Google Trips makes all that information readily available at your fingertips.

Beyond offering recommendations, Google Trips also creates full itineraries for the 200 most popular cities worldwide, so you can maximize your time there. These itineraries can be found under the Day Plan tile on the city's page. A Day Plan will offer a list of popular sights, their schedules and the estimated time it will take you to travel from one location to the other.

Simply put, Google Trips wants to be your personal travel guide and save you the hassle of organizing every detail of your trip so you can enjoy your time more. Google Trips is now available as a free app on Android and iOS.
