This is according to a tutorial that is currently making waves on YouTube. The surprisingly simple and nerve-wracking do-it-yourself "solution" was posted by TechRax, and it involves a process that spans 1 minute and 24 seconds. The clip, titled "Secret Hack to Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7," shows the Apple device being secured by a vise while the technician unceremoniously bores a gaping hole that instantly serves as the headphone jack.

Lest iPhone 7 users begin hunting for a hand drill, the entire affair is, of course, only a joke.

Unfortunately, there are people who seem to take the tutorial seriously. This is quite disturbing especially since the video has been viewed 4.9 million times as of this writing. Posted messages in the comment section show hapless individuals trying to clarify and ask for more details about the process. Some tech websites even appear to have initially fallen for the ruse. For example, here's what Mashable has to say:

"As TechRax shows us, it works. All you need for this DIY is a drill with a 3.5 mm bit, a vice to hold your device in place and a very steady hand. And maybe a forgiving wallet if you mess it up."

Again, DO NOT drill your iPhone 7 regardless of how steady your hand is or how much you believe the device can endure the torture.

So far, no angry YouTubers have emerged brandishing an iPhone with a useless hole, but it won't be a surprise if one eventually does. The video did not post any disclaimer. As a matter of fact, its YouTube description reads:

"This video is for those who don't want to get $159 wireless airpods or have to insert your headphones into an adapter every time you listen to music."

There is no official word yet from Apple commenting on this recent development. But TechRax's video and the speed by which it has spread in the web underscore people's frustration with Apple's recent iPhone innovation. Such frustration can also be attributed to the fact that some iPhone 7 users have already purchased expensive earphones in anticipation of the device's release.
