If you just bought an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and are experiencing poor sound quality during phone calls, you're not alone. Owners have posted the issue on Apple's online forums, as well as AppleInsider.

Sales of the new iPhones appear to be off to a great start, as Sprint and T-Mobile both announced record sales for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and Apple is completely sold out of the new exclusive Jet Black and Black color options. The Jet Black and Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have proven to be the most sought out colors for both new iPhones, even though Apple has formally warned buyers ahead of a potential scratch-grate, that the glossy Jet Black color shows scratches easily.

"The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone," writes the company on its iPhone 7 Specs page.

It's a week into the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and Apple hasn't yet experienced widespread reports of an issue that could constitute the usual fill in the blank-gate it faced in previous years.

2010's iPhone 4 not only brought the first Retina display to an iPhone, it also started Antennagate, which resulted in lower cellular connectivity due to holding the new iPhone's metal frame, which also served as its antenna. 2014's release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ushered in Bendgate, which only supposedly affected a small number of devices that were reported to bend easily while in a user's pocket.

A Soundgate could be brewing, however, as AppleInsider is reporting that it has received several complaints from iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners who are claiming that they are experiencing poor audio on the devices while on phone calls. The site also notes that Apple's online support forums are also showing iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners stating that call quality is a problem on the new iPhones.

It's unclear if this issue has anything to do with another sound problem some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners have been reporting, a hissing sound coming from the devices. Apple hasn't acknowledged the issue but some owners have reported the company replacing their iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.
