As the launch of Pixel and Pixel XL handsets draws nearer, more leaks and rumors are surfacing. The most recent ones feature new renders of the two phones.

Autumn is a special time for Android fans because back-to-school season becomes synonymous with new Android OS releases as well as Google hardware to run it on. Previous editions of Google phones involved manufacturers such as LG, Samsung or Huawei to bring the Nexus gadgets to life.

2016 marks a first, however, as Google announced that it will push out "Made by Google" devices, meaning Android smartphones will join the existing Pixel line from the company.

News and rumors about the Pixel and Pixel XL handsets have pelleted news feeds, and the latest feature a couple of new renders of the upcoming devices. Luckily, fans of the ex-Nexus-future-Pixel phones have to wait just a bit longer as the launch of the much-anticipated handsets should take place during the debut in October.

Twitter user Haniff (@iamaniff) shared two images of 3D renderings of seemingly Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The tweet went on Reddit as well, but redditors gave it a rather lukewarm welcoming.

Keep in mind that the renders only show the backside of the device and seem to be very similar in shape to leaked images that came out earlier this month. However, observant users will note the significant missing piece: there's no camera flash on the rear of the devices.

This leads to the conclusion that the renders fall more in the fan artwork category than serious leaks. Alongside the tweeted images, @iamaniff commented "Completed by HTC, approved by Google."

This would indicate that HTC was heavily involved in the design process, which we know to be false. What is more, Google plans to advertise this year's models with the "Made by Google" tagline, which curbs the HTC involvement rumor even more.

Shortly after Twitter user Haniff posted the two images, Simon Paturel (@SimsaysP) notified Haniff that the two images have actually been crafted by him in August. To support his claim, Paturel provided a link to his Google+ account, where he had posted the renders last month.

Those who are on their toes waiting for the Pixel and Pixel XL handsets are looking at some Google phones packed with powerful specs and highly improved cameras. Insiders from the company hinted that the phones will be the first devices to support Daydream VR, so the wait will most likely be worth it.
