Even though quite a lot of people preordered their 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black the second they were able to on Sept. 9, there have been complaints from this crew of customers when it comes to the smartphone's arrival despite some getting the week of Sept. 19 shipping dates.

While those who ordered the new Apple smartphone models in Matte Black began reporting they began getting shipping confirmation numbers and started receiving their devices, many Jet Black customers are still yet to even be charged.

And while we know that both the Matte and Jet Black are popular color choices, we now know what is to blame for the delay in shipments for the latter black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

There is a serious shortage in the Jet Black iPhone 7, pushing its estimated shipping dates until November because of manufacturing issues.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new high-gloss finish is a real challenge for manufacturers.

To achieve that glossy (and easily scratched) finish on the body of the device, the Jet Black phone goes through a nine-step anodization and polishing process. And manufacturing it precisely is turning about to be extremely difficult.

Kuo stated that that there is a "low casing production rate of 60 to 70 percent," which means that Apple's manufacturers are making a high amount of cases that don't meet the standards. As a result, there is a low supply of the quality devices being made, leading to the shortage.

So it's producing the finish of the Jet Black model that is largely to blame for the shortage and not only because of "market demand."

And speaking of demand, although the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have already broken sale records at T-Mobile at the time of its preorder launch, the market analyst revealed that the demand for the new model is lower than that of the iPhone 6s when it launched last year.

"Regarding news of some mobile operators reporting preorder growth for the iPhone 7 over last year's 6s, we believe this is mainly attributable to market share gains for these mobile operators thanks to new promotions, rather than representing greater consumer demand," Kuo stated.

Along with attractive promotions, KGI Securities also believes the sleek new look of the Jet Black iPhone has also contributed to the shortage. According to its survey, 30 to 35 percent of preorders were for the Jet Black color worldwide. Almost half of the preorders in China were for this new color.

The analyst still believes that despite demand, the iPhone 7 will sell less than the iPhone 6s, as many people who just upgraded might wait until Apple comes out with its 10th anniversary iPhone, the rumored 8, next year.
