Apple is on a roll right now with the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both devices have found success at retail, but the company is not stopping there if a new report is to be believed.

It's been awhile since we've heard anything solid about Apple's Macbook line of computers. We've come across several rumors, with some claiming the device will come with a secondary OLED display that is designed to highlight the function keys.

As we sit and wait for Apple to officially talk about what it plans when it comes down to the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air, we have to contend with another round of rumors from the mill.

According to Rhoda Alexander, an analyst from IHS Securities, Apple's intention is to launch the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in October this year.

The report came from Forbes, which means this rumor should carry a lot of weight behind it. Alexander went on to state that production on both devices began during the second calendar quarter of 2016. Now, such news might sound great to some, but there's a huge drawback here, which leaves us to wonder if this rumor is even on track.

Should Apple decide to launch both the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in October, then it simply means the devices won't come with Intel Kaby Lake inside, especially since the rumor claims production has already begun.

Alexander herself appears to agree with this sentiment that, "given the timing of the start of production, inclusion of [Intel's] Kaby Lake chip appears unlikely."

This doesn't give us any real information on what Apple is planning. However, it does give the impression that the chances of seeing Kaby Lake inside the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are quite slim at this point.

As it stands, Intel Skylake may be the road Apple is traveling on. Maybe the company doesn't see a huge performance increase with Kaby Lake that is worth going after. Furthermore, the company might be interested in keeping costs down by going with an older architecture.

One of the latest rumors also suggests that the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air would both come with a trackpad that supports Apple Pencil. This would make a lot of sense, as it would give Apple device users another means of using the Pencil. Right now, the Apple Pencil is only usable on the iPad Pro.
