Google has a new approach to home Wi-Fi connectivity, boosting your internet connection with a nice team effort called Google Wifi.

The company says that Google Wifi is a new approach to home Wi-Fi and it's certainly intriguing. Rather than relying on a single router that you can place in one room, Google Wifi consists of a set of smaller, neatly-designed devices spread throughout the house in a mesh network.

This way, Google allows users to tap multiple Wi-Fi points to connect and expand coverage in a household. Having multiple tiny routers instead of a single one could solve the issue with big houses that get great Wi-Fi reception in the room where the router is located, but not so great reception in some other room that's farther from the router.

While Google Wifi is not the company's first crack at a router, it's different from its previous OnHub. Google collaborated with TP-Link and ASUS for OnHub, but this time it's making the Google Wifi routers itself.

In terms of design, Google Wifi looks like a tiny white puck which should easily fit anywhere without drawing too much attention or looking out of place. It's small and simplistic, with an LED circle in the middle for various status information.

Google also touts a faster Wi-Fi connection without any special user input, thanks to its Google Assist software. Google Assist is designed to automatically pick the channel with the least interference and the fastest bandwidth for your devices.

Google Wifi Specs

Google Wifi is all about connectivity, so Google went for AC1200 2x2 Wave 2 Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi mesh with the possibility to expand, dual-band Wi-Fi (2,4 GHz/5 GHz) compatible with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, TX Beamforming and Bluetooth Smart Ready. Moreover, Google Wifi also packs two Ethernet ports for each spot, which can be configured either as WAN or LAN.

The gadget further sports 512 MB of DDR3L RAM, 4 GB of eMMC flash storage, a quad-core processor and a 15W charging adapter. The device is powered via USB Type-C.

Google Wifi Pricing And Availability

Those worried about scandalous prices can relax, as Google Wifi will not break the bank. A single router will cost $129, while a pack with three tiny routers runs up to $299. To ensure better coverage and connectivity, Google recommends a three-pack for houses larger than 1,500 square feet.

As for availability, Google Wifi will go up for preorder in November and go on sale in December.
