HTC Bolt, codenamed Acadia, could be the first HTC-branded device to come running on Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box.

Rumors of the HTC Bolt have been surfacing in the tech space for several weeks now, and speculation is rife that the smartphone will be available via Sprint in the U.S.

Google has already announced its latest mobile operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat, and some phone makers have confirmed new handsets running on the new OS. HTC ROM developer with Twitter handle LlabTooFeR has tweeted that the HTC Bolt will also come running on Android 7.0 Nougat with Sense UI. The Bolt is also expected to be made available in other markets in Asia, Europe and Africa.

Well-known leakster Evan Blass with Twitter handle evleaks also hinted last month at the HTC Bolt's arrival to Sprint.

A week later, Blass followed up with a leaked photo of the HTC Bolt in silver. If it's to be believed, then the upcoming device resembles the HTC 10, which was announced in April this year, but with some differences.

According to a previous reports, the leaked image suggests that the phone will have the same camera lens found on the HTC 10, but the flash module has been moved to the top of the lens. The HTC Bolt may not have a laser autofocus sensor found on the HTC flagship, but it could come with dual SIM support.

Hardware specs remain unknown, but the phone is said to be a flagship handset, which suggests that it may nontheless come with impressive specs.

HTC has neither confirmed the existence of the Bolt nor its launch date. However, the leaked photo indicates Oct. 18 and 7 p.m., and the phone's location is set to New York. It's likely that these details could be the unveiling date, time and location of HTC's next flagship.

A slew of mobile phones have been launched in 2016 and the smartphone market is getting very competitive. Undoubtedly, the HTC Bolt will face stiff competition at launch, but a pocket-friendly price may attract customers who are looking to buy a new phone this holiday season.
