HTC is expected to release its next-generation flagship smartphone to succeed the HTC 10 early next year. A new video and render images provide a glimpse of what HTC may have in store.

Samsung has ruled the Android smartphone kingdom for the last couple of years by introducing devices with bleeding-edge specs coupled with premium construction of glass and metal. It's too early to tell how the company's handling of its defective Galaxy Note 7 will affect the smartphone maker and its future devices, but it is an area its rivals will surely capitalize on.

Before Samsung ruled the Android playing field, HTC held the throne, and 2013's HTC One (M7) was widely viewed as the best smartphone on the market at the time. The handset was incredibly well received because unlike its main competitor, Samsung's Galaxy S4, which featured a plastic body, HTC constructed the One (M7) out of custom-grade aluminum, which was machined into a unibody enclosure that made the handset feel like a premium device.

We recently reported that an HTC designer posted a video of an unannounced buttonless smartphone named Ocean. The video showed a handset with a touch-sensitive frame that allows users to interact with the handset without touching the screen. The designer subsequently made the video private and claimed that the smartphone was only a concept.

Soon, reports claimed HTC was actually planning to launch an Ocean series of smartphones: Ocean Master, Ocean Note and Ocean Smart. While we don't have any proof of these devices, TechConfigurations has created an HTC 11 concept video based on the buttonless design and Contextual Touch Sensitive Frame technology. The producer of the video included some of the specs that HTC may use in the smartphone when it ships.

As you can see in the video below, the HTC 11 concept features a 5.5-inch Quad HD Dual Edge Display and buttonless and waterproof aluminum case with dual-stereo speakers. It will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, which is expected to also power the Samsung Galaxy S8, and include 6 GB of RAM.

Its camera capabilities consist of a dual 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel rear camera module and an 8-megapixel wide angle front-facing camera. The HTC 11 will likely use a USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging.

Check out the HTC 11 concept video and let us know the comments below what you think and if it's something you'd actually want.
