The DJI Mavic Pro has been delayed for a week, but preorder customers can now breathe a sigh of relief as the foldable drone finally started shipping

The tiny Mavic Pro was supposed to start shipping on Oct. 14, but as that date came and went, customers started wondering why they didn't get their drone - or at least an explanation for the delay.

After being virtually assaulted by questions from eager customers, DJI eventually responded on Oct. 18 citing an "amazing global demand." The company said at the time that production was "in full swing" and it was doing its best to fulfill orders as fast as it can, but didn't offer an actual shipping date.

Just a few days past the due date, DJI has now announced that it finally started shipping the Mavic Pro on Friday, Oct. 21. This means that at least some of those who preordered the powerful foldable drone from DJI should soon receive their gadget.

DJI is still facing strong demand and trying to keep up.

"As we told you earlier this week, demand is heavy, and we are working round the clock to get the Mavic Pro in your hands," says DJI in its latest statement. "Please check online for updates on your order status."

As a reminder, the DJI Mavic Pro officially made its debut in late September, making great waves among drone aficionados. The tiny quadcopter is powerful yet very compact, foldable to the size of a water bottle, DJI touted in its announcement.

The company further boasted that it equipped the Mavic Pro with its most innovative technology, aiming to revolutionize personal flight with an ultra-portable, high-tech drone always ready for an adventure.

The DJI Mavic Pro rocks a stabilized 4K camera to seize the moment with great clarity, a visual navigation system, a 27-minute flight autonomy and a 4.3-mile range.

It's definitely among the most powerful compact drones currently on the market and it's easy to set up and operate. Moreover, the Mavic Pro can also livestream 1080p video to Periscope, Facebook, YouTube and other such services.

The drone has a number of neat tricks up its sleeve and although it's not exactly cheap at its $999 price point, it's easy to understand why it's in strong demand worldwide. If you still can't decide which high-end foldable drone to get, check out our DJI Mavic Pro vs. GoPro Karma comparison.
