As with previous iterations, the OnePlus 3 has been performing quite well on the market and OnePlus seems bent on maintaining that streak with the upcoming release of the OnePlus 4. While rumors swirl about this next-generation device, another called OnePlus 3T may have been accidentally outed at Weibo, a popular social media website in China.

The snafu, if you can call it that, involved a post by a Weibo account identified with a OnePlus designer. The content is said to indicate that it was posted using a device called OnePlus 3T. No additional details have been revealed so far but this bit of information confirms recent persistent rumors that a version of the OnePlus 3 is in the pipeline.

Early this month, for example, a OnePlus handset bearing the model number A301 was reportedly cleared by the China Compulsory Certification (3C). Previous rumors identified this as the OnePlus 3S or OnePlus 3 Plus. It seems that the tag has been replaced, or perhaps the 3T is an entirely different variant. There is also an emerging speculation that the T could stand for Turbo, which could indicate a speed upgrade.

A possible OnePlus 3T could mean a refreshed OnePlus 3, which some sectors expect to be released before the OnePlus 4 rolls out in 2017. There has been no official confirmation, which is unfortunate for those interested in the release schedule and pricing.

There is limited information available about potential 3T hardware specifications but there are sources who believe that the smartphone will ship with a Snapdragon 821 processor and could clock at 2.4GHz. It makes sense to say that it will have a slightly improved specs overall so that the device can better compete with new flagships such as the Google Pixel.

There is a big chance that the device could also come with Oxygen OS based on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Now, there is one particular feature that seems certain at this point. OnePlus 3T will probably have an Optic AMOLED display. This can be attributed to a recent Twitter post by Carl Pei, cofounder of OnePlus, that the company will use the display technology in its future devices.

Observers cite that the 3T will probably sport similar design language found in the OnePlus 3, particularly, the all-metal chassis. Features such as Dash Charge and the camera's Smart Capture are also expected to get carried over all at a very reasonable price.
