The new MacBook Pro is kind of interesting due to the Touch Bar Apple has added to the device. It's probably the most innovative feature of the laptop; however, the company was also interested in taking away old ones.

What Apple has done here could either make or break the new MacBook Pro, at least for some professionals who are not in the need for using new technologies.

For some odd reason, Apple has removed the SD card slot from the new MacBook Pro. This is a move that will no doubt cause problems for many fans. The SD card slot is used a lot by professional photographers and others who are not fans of wireless transfer.

Just simply popping an SD card from a camera and sliding it into a MacBook Pro is a seamless experience that a lot of people are used to doing. Apple has decided that these people need to find another way of transferring their content, and to us, that's anti-consumer.

Folks who love to use the SD card slot will now be required to get an SD card dongle or use wireless technology. Yet again, Apple is forcing its users to attach another dongle to their devices. Just look at the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus? They lack a 3.5mm headphone jack. But not to worry, the new MacBook Pro comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but trust it will be gone before long.

Innovation Means Getting Rid Of The Old

Now, we know Apple as a company that loves to innovate and to do so, one needs to get rid of old things. However, the SD card slot is still important to millions of people. Almost every dedicated camera, professional or otherwise, comes with an SD card slot, so ditching it is a huge blow to those who continue to use it.

Apple needs to understand the SD card is an essential hardware feature many have come to expect. The same can be said for the 3.5mm headphone jack. No one should be forced to go out and purchase an adapter just to get their devices to work with a popular product.

The new MacBook Pro could have been the perfect laptop, but the doing away of the SD card is a major blow. For now, only time will tell if consumers will react negatively with their dollars, but for some reason, we believe this will not be the case.
