OnePlus is getting increasing traction due to its mélange of powerful specs, slick looks and competitive pricing, and rumors are hinting that the company is fitting the OnePlus 4 with hardware that will encourage OnePlus 3 owners to upgrade.

OnePlus 3 Specs

The current flagship from OnePlus features an HD AMOLED screen of 5.5 inches, able to display 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolutions. This means that the device sports a pixel density of 401 ppi, which is safe from scratches and drops thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Processing power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 four-core CPU, which taps into two cores clocked at 1.6 GHz and two running at 2.2 GHz. The SoC is paired with 6 GB of RAM to make sure the device is always at top performance. Standard internal space is 64 GB, and graphics comes from an Adreno 530 GPU.

Software wise, OnePlus 3 operates on Google's Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, which is sprinkled with the OEM's proprietary Oxygen OS.

OnePlus 4 Specs

Insiders familiar with the matter tout that OnePlus 4 will carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 clocked at 3.0 GHz, paired with no less than 8 GB RAM. Internal storage will start from 32 GB and go up to 256 GB, albeit with the help of a microSD card.

Graphics will rely on an Adreno 620 GPU.

Software-wise, OnePlus 4 should pack Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and it will holster increased security features via a fingerprint scanner. Juice will run smoothly through the handset thanks to a massive 4,000 mAh battery. What is more, quick changing support is rumored to help users get a fast charging of the smartphone.

Despite a number of OEMs joining the Apple pack and removing the headphone jack, it looks like the latest OnePlus flagship might stick with the traditional 3.5mm plug-in method.

Carl Pei, the leader of the company, started a poll on Twitter asking users if his company should follow the iPhone 7 and axe the standard headphone jack. Answers were overwhelmingly "no," and fans of the company might see their wish granted.

The OnePlus 4 will be a very hard to turn down offer, as HNGN reports that the device will sell for about $400. To put it in perspective, this is the same price at which the OnePlus 3 is currently selling.

Grain Of Salt
