Those itching for a quick retro fix have already set their eyes on Nintendo's upcoming re-release of the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES. Called the NES Classic Edition, the console is significantly smaller than the original one released in 1985 and comes with 30 games out of the box.

While the console itself is collecting none but revered praise, one gripe seems to be apparent with the device, and it's directed at the controller. The console comes with one NES Classic Controller which thankfully is the same size as the one bundled with the original release.

However, some people are complaining about the controller's short cable span. So unless you want to sit really close to the TV, you need to opt for a solution, and some have indeed sprung up ahead of the console's release.

Some solutions suggest that you purchase a long HDMI cable in order to offset the controller's short cable, but such a setup proves cumbersome. A wireless third-party controller is ideal for this scenario and video game accessory manufacturer Nyko is already one step ahead.

Nyko is opening up Miniboss for NES Classic Edition for preorders today, a wireless controller paired with a dongle that gives a wireless range of up to 30 feet. It retails for $19.99 and you can preorder it now. Nyko's still mum about the Miniboss' battery life but it can be charged via a micro-USB connector.

If the idea of retrofitting old technology with a newer one bothers you, Nyko understands that, too. For those who don't want to completely shun the cable in place of a wireless controller, Nyko is offering another accessory, the Extend Link for NES Classic Edition which does what its name suggests, adding 6 feet of additional cord length for $10. And as a bonus, the Extend Link will also be compatible with wired controllers for Wii and Wii U.

Nyko isn't the only one up to the task, though. MyArcade is also opening up GamePad Retro for preorder, which is a NES Classic Edition controller with a 10-foot cord for $9.99. Throw in a few more dollars and you can instead opt for the wireless variant called the GamePad Classic, which retails for $14.99.

The GamePad can last up to 75 hours on two AA batteries. Lastly, for $24.99, you can get a the MyArcade Pro which bundles a GamePad Retro wireless controller and a 10-foot extension cord.

The NES Classic Edition hits shelves Nov. 11 for $59.99. Apart from 30 classic NES games, it also features save states and different display options, including an appropriately nostalgia-inducing CRT TV filter.
