If you own the T-Mobile variant of the flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones from Samsung, you will be excited to learn that both the handsets are now benefiting from the monthly Android security update.

That's right, T-Mobile begun pushing out the November security patch for the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 in the United States on Saturday, Nov. 5, according to reports. Courtesy of the maintenance update, the Samsung smartphones are the first to benefit from the November security patch.

Interestingly, Neville Ray, the CTO of T-Mobile, shared on Twitter on Nov. 3 that the company was working on an update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and it would be made available soon.

No Official Confirmation Of Android Security Update

Now, thanks to the November Android security update's arrival for T-Mobile variants of the handset, the Galaxy S7 gets bumped up to the firmware version G930TUVU4PK1, whereas sibling Galaxy S7 edge moves to version G935TUVU4APK1. The update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge weigh 82.10 MB and 81.96 MB, respectively.

T-Mobile is yet to officially confirm that it has pushed out the monthly maintenance patch for the two smartphones and post the changelog on its support site. This suggests that the rollout is being pushed out in a limited manner.

However, the screenshots of the "November 1" security update as shared by TMONews reads:

"T-Mobile has sent you a new software update for your device. Update will take approximately 10 minutes. You will not be able to use the device during this time, including the ability to call or text 9-1-1. To begin install, select INSTALL NOW."

Interestingly, while the changelog affirms that "the security of your device has been improved," it is only after once you update to the software version that you learn that the update includes the November Android security patch.

The changelog of the update isn't that conclusive, but confirms "the security of your device has been improved." However, if you check the phone's software version after updating, you will notice that it says that it features the Android security patch for the month of November.

Apart from the update improving the security of the two Samsung flagship smartphones, a possibility exists that the November patch brings support for 256 QAM and 64 QAM capabilities. However, since the carrier is yet to confirm the same, we will have to wait for its official changelog.
