Barnes & Noble and Samsung are debuting their second tablet collaboration -- the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1, the biggest form factor from the two collaborators, but whether it makes any sort of dent in the crowded tablet marketplace is yet to be seen.

The hardware is made by Samsung, while the Nook part of the device comes via a few software tweaks by Barnes & Noble.

"With the launch of the new large-screen Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, we have a fantastic lineup of devices for our customers to choose from as we head into the holiday gifting season," said Barnes & Noble CEO Michael Huseby in a statement. "Customers are telling us that they love the reading and entertainment experience of our new 7-inch Samsung Nook and we're certain that the addition of the stunning 10-inch model ... will ensure that there's a perfect device for everyone in the family."

The device is Wi-Fi enabled and allows for reading books, playing games and watching movies. The device includes a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The onboard storage is 16 GB, which is expandable to up to 64 GB through the use of a microSD card.

"The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook combines an award-winning reading experience with leading-edge technology to offer consumers an immersive way to enjoy all types of content," said president of Samsung Electronics America Tim Baxter. "We are excited to offer both the 7- and 10.1-inch Nooks by Samsung to customers through Barnes & Noble's bookstores nationwide, just in time for the holidays."

Samsung and Barnes & Noble first announced a partnership in June when they announced the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, which has now gone on sale for only $169.99.

Customers of the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will also get an update to the latest Nook software, which is set to begin rolling out from Google Play on Oct. 22. The software will begin rolling out to Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7-inch customers in November.

As part of the package, Barnes & Noble will gift new customers with a content mix that includes over $200 worth of reading and entertainment media.

Users will also receive a 14-day free trial to one of 15 magazines. Not only that, but users will receive the previous 12 issues of the magazine that they choose at no extra cost.

The device launched with a cost of $299 at Barnes & Noble bookstores worldwide. It also is available online.
