The OnePlus 3T, a more powerful follow-up to the company's flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3, has now been announced officially by OnePlus, following a stream of rumors about the phone circulating for a while now.

Why OnePlus Launched Another Flagship Quickly?

Phone makers traditionally bide for a year's worth of time, possibly even more, before unveiling a successor to previous flagship devices. The OnePlus 3T is a dent in that trend, entering the market just five months after the OnePlus 3 did.

"We're weird like that and we're not like the others," the company told Business Insider. OnePlus' "Never Settle" slogan rings true here, opting to unstretch the typical window for a new smartphone refresh. The timing of the OnePlus 3T makes OnePlus a reverse-mirror image for Apple and Samsung or similar companies with annual product refreshes or unveilings.

OnePlus 3T Design And Specs

The OnePlus 3T is nearly, if not wholly, identical to the OnePlus 3. All the changes are under the hood, with a 2.35 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor running on the device, a tidbit hinted by Qualcomm itself a week into November.

For the record, this configuration makes the processor inside OnePlus 3T a tad more powerful than Google's Pixel smartphones, but whether it performs better than those two remains to be tested once the OnePlus 3T hits shelves.

The handset comes with 6 GB of RAM to effortlessly shift between graphics-intensive software and playing 4K video without a hitch.

There's a 64 GB and 128 GB variant available, both with UFS 2.0 technology for faster data transfers. As with premium smartphones nowadays, there's also a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button on the front.

OnePlus also bumped the front-facing camera in the OnePlus 3T, now with 16 megapixels compared with the OnePlus 3 with 8 megapixels. On the back is another 16-megapixel shooter, like its predecessor.

Save for the processor and a bigger 3,400 mAh battery, OnePlus 3 owners should not worry about missing out, since OnePlus' previous flagship remains one of the best Android phones around. In fact, OnePlus will remain providing OnePlus 3 owners the same updates to OxygenOS simultaneous with the OnePlus 3T.

OnePlus 3T Pricing And Launch

The OnePlus 3T launches Nov. 22, available in a new color scheme OnePlus is calling "gunmetal" alongside a soft gold option. Pricing starts at $439.

Unfortunately, OnePlus will stop offering the OnePlus 3 once the OnePlus 3T arrives, so if you're planning on getting one, you might as well do so now.
