Apple is reportedly going to release three iPhone 8 models next year, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

If Kuo's speculation turns out to be true, then customers will see a 4.7-inch iPhone with an LCD display, a 5.5-inch variant also with an LCD but equipped with dual cameras and another version with an OLED screen plus a dual-camera configuration to boot, the size of which hasn't been specified.

What Are The Chances Of Seeing Three iPhone 8 Variants?

To start things off, Kuo has an impressive track record in predicting Apple-related info, and most of the time, it's pretty safe to take his word for it. That said, this case shouldn't be any different from his previous remarks.

"We look for new 2017F iPhones to come in three models: one OLED model, and two TFT-LCD models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display. We believe the OLED and 5.5-inch TFT-LCD iPhones will feature dual-camera," MacRumors reports as Kuo's statement.

What's more, Apple is already using OLED displays on the Apple Watch and the new MacBook Pro's Touch Bar, and that means it won't be surprising to see the technology fitted on an iPhone in the future.

On top of that, other flagships in the market such as Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Google's Pixel are already sporting OLED screens.

However, despite all this, it's still recommended to take the news with the proverbial grain of salt, as nothing's set in stone until the Cupertino brand makes an official announcement.

Potential Display Size Of The OLED iPhone 8

Recently, Barclays Research analysts said that Apple may release a 5.8-inch iPhone with a curved OLED display next year, and that more or less corroborates Kuo's speculation of such a variant launching and provides insight on the possible size of the upcoming handset.

On an interesting note, the company is believed to ditch the bezels to make the new smartphones practically the same size as today's iPhones.

More than that, Kuo also said earlier this year that Apple will launch a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone with a glass casing in 2017.

Wrapping Up The iPhone 8 Rumor

To boil things down, the 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 could essentially take the place of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, while the model with the OLED display and dual-camera setup may be touted as the premium device of the lineup.

Again, there's no telling whether or not this will hold true, but considering that it comes from Kuo, there's a good chance it will.
