Samsung is in a tight position right now as the company hopes to rebound after the devastation that was the Galaxy Note 7. The device came out swinging,  and then it began to trip and explode multiple times to the point where Samsung had to abandon it completely.

With that being a major problem, Samsung must regain the trust of its partners and customers, and the only way to do that is to release a smartphone that is capable of many things, along with not exploding and causing bodily harm. The Galaxy S8 could be this handset, and Samsung would likely be putting everything into this handset to get it right.

So far, several rumors of the Galaxy S8 has surfaced on the web. They all sound interesting, although it can be difficult to tell what is real from what is not. However, some rumors have come off as more plausible, and we're going to talk a little bit about those in hopes to understand what the Galaxy S8 might bring to the table.

What Screen Size Should We Expect?

The Galaxy S7 came in two variants; the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. We expect Samsung to continue down this path with the Galaxy S8. The latest rumors claim that fans should look forward to one variant rocking a 5.7-inch display, while the other sporting a larger 6.2-inch display.

We suspect the Galaxy S8 edge to have the larger display due to its curved design. Furthermore, we understand Samsung has decided to increase the screen size because that's what it believes people want.

Samsung Wants Its Own Google Assistant

We know Samsung as a company that wants to rely more on itself than Google, so it makes sense it would like to have its own intelligent AI assistant that can only be found on Galaxy devices. This assistant is called Viv, and it is expected to debut on the Galaxy S8 come 2017.

Samsung got its hands on Viv after its acquired Viv Labs. We should point Viv Labs is being run by the co-creator of Siri, so Samsung could be onto something here.

Touch Based Power Button And Wireless Charging

One of the interesting rumors of the Galaxy S8, claims the device will come with wireless charging and touch-based power button. We've long known smartphone designers wants to do away with physical buttons, and the power button is probably the main one keeping those plans for happening.

As for wireless charging, that's nothing new, but the way Samsung plans to do it could improve how fast charging takes place. Fans should also keep their eyes peeled for a 2K display with OLED technology to boot.

It's clear from these rumors that the Galaxy S8 could turn out to be the smartphone to beat in 2017, and for good reason. The Galaxy Note 7 was a disaster, and Samsung needs to remove that bad taste from the mouth of all its users, especially the ones who were affected.
