Samsung is running a beta program for Android 7.0 Nougat on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge in several regions, which means that customers should expect to get a taste of the latest Android operating system (OS) soon. Samsung has not announced Android Nougat's release date for the Galaxy S6, but it seems that the mobile phone will also receive a software update sooner than later.
Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest Android mobile OS available in the market. Though android device owners are eagerly waiting for it, only a handful of devices have received the new OS.
Galaxy S6 Operating System
Samsung has an array of phones running on previous versions of Android, but it is highly likely that older flagship phones will be one of the first to receive Android Nougat first. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in March 2015. The handset came running on Android 5.0 Lollipop straight out of the box, but the mobile phone has only received Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

If rumors are to be believed, it may not be long before Galaxy S6 customers start receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update. The Galaxy S6 was spotted at GFXBench running on Android 7.0 Nougat, which suggests Samsung is in the final stages of testing the new operating system for the flagship device of 2015.
Reports also point that the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge could be the first Samsung devices to get a taste of Android Nougat followed by devices in the Galaxy S6 series and Galaxy Note 5.

Customers should also note that individual carriers may still take time before releasing a software update to their variants of the Galaxy S6, which means some customers may have to wait longer than other to receive the software update.
