Nintendo is on a heavy marketing push of late, recently heralding its forthcoming products on a "Tonight Show" spot, while also conversing with a gaggle of journalists and gaming publications about a number of things, but chiefly, Super Mario Run and Nintendo's inner workings.

The Switch, its upcoming hybrid console, hasn't been elaborated specs-wise, but that will soon change on Nintendo Jan. 12 event, where the company is expected to provide more information. Nintendo of America has now reiterated the forthcoming event alongside a schedule.

Nintendo Switch Jan. 12 Event

As per its official Twitter account, Nintendo of America confirmed that in the United States, the Switch presentation will start at 8:00 p.m. PT and 11:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 12. The event will be streamed live from Tokyo, Japan.

The company is expected to offer more details about the console's hardware during the event, alongside the list of games it'll launch with upon release. The exact pricing of the system is also expected to be announced. Beyond these tidbits, there's not really much else Nintendo has confirmed that it'll say about the system, although it's been known to often hide surprises under its sleeve. In fact, this characteristic emerged recently, when Reggie Fils-Aime unexpectedly gave a demo of the Switch during a "Tonight Show" segment, despite Nintendo saying that there'll be no Switch news until Jan. 12.

How To Watch The Nintendo Switch Presentation

The event will be streamed directly on the Nintendo Switch's website. Following it is a five-hour press event in New York City where Nintendo is expected to dive deeper on the details mentioned in the preceding presentation. It remains to be seen if the said event in New York will include playable Switch titles on-site.

Other Nintendo Switch News

Recent reports have suggested that GameCube emulation on the Switch is underway, with staple titles such as Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee is reportedly in working condition. Animal Crossing may also be one of the GameCube titles headed for the Switch, with rumors pinning the game as currently in testing stages.

The Nintendo Switch, previously bearing the codename NX, is Nintendo's follow up to the Wii U, a less-polished hybrid idea that has progressively struggled to corner a sizable chunk of the home console gaming market, surpassed by its field competitors Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The Switch was revealed this past October, breaking Nintendo's protracted radio silence about the system. Its reveal video has now garnered close to 22 million views on YouTube.

The Nintendo Switch comes out March 2017.
