Apple just released its latest version of iOS 10 in the form of iOS 10.2 to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners. The software update is causing several problems for users and Apple is already testing iOS 10.2.1 to address the issues.

When Apple showed the world iOS 10 for the first time in June at the WWDC, the company boasted that its latest mobile OS would also be its biggest release ever.

iOS 10 The Biggest iOS Release Ever

"iOS 10 is our biggest release ever, with delightful new ways to express yourself in Messages, a native app for Home automation and beautifully redesigned apps for Music, Maps, and News that are more intuitive and more powerful, making everything you love about your iPhone and iPad even better," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering. "iOS 10 adds Siri intelligence into QuickType and Photos, automates your home with the new Home app and opens up Siri, Maps, Phone and Messages to developers – while increasing security and privacy with powerful technologies like Differential Privacy."

After months of testing via developers and the public, Apple released iOS 10 on Sept. 13 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The company has gone on to issue five software updates designed to introduce new features and squash some nasty bugs. Its latest release, iOS 10.2, was released on Dec. 12 and while it brings some new features like a TV app, over 100 new emoji, stability improvements and bug fixes, it is also causing major headaches and problems for users.

iOS 10.2 Breaks More Than It Fixes?

Forbes is reporting that iOS 10.2 has some nasty surprises baked in and one is even worse than originally thought. The "30% Bug" was reported in November and it causes some iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus models to completely die when its battery reaches about 30 percent of charge remaining.

Apple has publicly stated that the only iPhones affected are iPhone 6s models and has opened up a free battery replacement program. iPhone 6s users can enter the serial number of their iPhone on Apple's support page to see if their model needs a free battery replacement.

30% Battery Bug Even Worse In iOS 10.2?

Some iOS 10.2 users are reporting that the "30% Bug" is worse, with percentage seeming to get stuck at random levels for a while, then dropping percentage points significantly at different moments.

iOS 10.2 includes a new telemetry diagnostic tool that can send Apple battery data information for users who have opted into diagnostic tools reporting, providing the company with data that will be used in an upcoming software update, according to the company.

EarPods Still Not Working Correctly After iOS 10.2

Users are also reporting that a bug that has plagued iOS 10 since its release is still broken. As of this post, Apple's support page has a 25-page thread about Apple EarPods malfunctioning during phone calls. Some users report that ending and restarting a call can temporarily fix the issue but it eventually returns.

If you're experiencing any of these issues, the wait for a fix might not be long, as Apple has already started testing an iOS 10 update in the form of iOS 10.2.1. It's unclear though whether what appears to be a minor update will indeed correct these problems or if a more major release like iOS 10.3 will finally put these issues to bed.

We'll keep you posted on any new information regarding iOS 10 software updates as they become available. Have you been experiencing any of these issues? Please let us and our readers know in the comments below.
