Drake's recent release "Fake Love" has shot to the top of the U.S. Spotify streaming charts while runner up "Starboy" by The Weeknd is the number one Spotify streaming song globally. Christmas music has begun impacting the charts, especially in the UK, as Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" currently sits at number one in that nation.

Another Smash Hit For Drake

It looks like the hits just keep coming for Drake. After his massive 2016 hit "One Dance" was just named the first song ever to top 1 billion streams on Spotify, the Canadian R&B pop artist has another number one song on his hands, as "Fake Love" grabs the top spot on the U.S. Spotify streaming chart.

Drake takes over from "Déjà Vu" by J. Cole, who smashed it on last week's chart due to the release of his "4 Your Eyez Only" album, from which all of the tracks placed in the Spotify top 15, including all top three songs.

The J.Cole phenomenon has died down this week, with all of his songs dropping including "Déjà Vu," which falls to number six this week, as Drake's "Fake Love" shoots up from its last week placing at number five to win the crown, just edging out second place and previous chart topper The Weeknd's "Starboy".

"Starboy" still reigns supreme on Spotify's global streaming chart, however, where "Fake Love" manages just a number eight placing. Look for The Weeknd's "I Feel It Coming," which currently sits at number 11 on both the U.S. and global charts to make a big move in the coming weeks as the new single picks up radio airplay.

Christmas Music Impacts

As Christmas approached, the proliferation of holiday music made an impact on all the Spotify streaming charts, culminating on Christmas Day. In the U.S., Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" led the pack as the number one Christmas song of the day, while "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee came in at number three and joined Mariah's Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit number four.

Globally, Mariah came out on top while Wham!'s "Last Christmas" was number three and Helms' tune came in at number five. It's the UK however that really got into the Christmas spirit, as a look at the Christmas Day Spotify chart in that country shows that a full 47 of the top 50 songs are Christmas related.
