Images of the BlackBerry Mercury just leaked and now we're getting a few more details on the QWERTY-equipped smartphone. The handset will reportedly be exclusive to Verizon in the U.S., powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and more.

In a few days, the tech community will descend upon Las Vegas to take part in the mother of all tech trade shows, CES 2017, which kicks off on Jan. 5 and runs through Jan. 8, 2017. We'll be covering CES 2017 and will bring you all of the latest news from the event.

BlackBerry To Unveil New Smartphones At CES 2017

One smartphone maker that's expected to make a big splash in Las Vegas with some new handsets will be BlackBerry. We just reported on leaked images of one of its devices scheduled to be announced at the show, the BlackBerry Mercury. Unlike its most recent smartphone release, the BlackBerry DTEK60, the BlackBerry Mercury will feature the company's iconic physical QWERTY keyboard that is very reminiscent to many of its former flagship smartphones and a much-loved feature of loyal BlackBerry fans.

BlackBerry Mercury Might Be Exclusive To Verizon At Launch

A new tweet from Roland Quandt, who has reported accurate smartphone news in the past, revealed that the BlackBerry Mercury has a model number of BBB100 and will be released by Verizon in the U.S. It's not 100 percent clear if the BlackBerry Mercury will be exclusively offered by Verizon, but considering the BlackBerry Priv was exclusive to AT&T upon release before making its way to other U.S. carriers, chances are that Verizon may get bragging rights on the new BlackBerry Mercury.

BlackBerry Mercury Specs And Details

We also have a better idea on what we can expect in terms of specs for the BlackBerry Mercury. A report claims that the BlackBerry Mercury will boast a 4.5-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD curved edge display and, unlike the BlackBerry Priv, which includes a slide out physical QWERTY keyboard, the Mercury will feature the classic non-sliding keyboard from handsets like the BlackBerry Bold and Curve directly below its screen.

In terms of other BlackBerry Mercury specs, the smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat and will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The handset will reportedly include 3 GB of RAM, ship with 32 GB of internal storage, and include a microSD expansion slot to further increase its space.

There's no mention of what we can expect in terms of the Mercury's camera capabilities, but the company has supposedly chosen to pack in a large 3,400 mAh battery.

You can bet we'll begin to hear more about other features of the BlackBerry Mercury as we get closer to its official announcement, and as always, we'll update you on any additional details.
