Amazon's Prime Day, a special annual sales event offered only to Amazon Prime members, was extremely successful this year, as customers placed 60 percent more orders worldwide and 50 percent more orders in the United States compared to last year. Amazon did not reveal specific sales figures, but analysts believe that the company could have sold up to $1 billion.

Amazon is looking to pull off something similar with its first-ever Digital Day, which will be held on Dec. 30.

Amazon Digital Day Explained

Described by Amazon as "the deal event for your devices," Digital Day promises up to 80 percent discounts for video game titles, 50 percent discounts for TV shows and movies, 75 percent discounts for digital comics, and other great deals on digital content.

Digital Day will go live on 12 a.m. PST on Dec. 30 and will last for only 24 hours. Interested Amazon customers can go to the Digital Day announcement page and sign up to receive notifications on the one-day sale, along with monthly updates on news and deals related to digital content.

Why The Need For Digital Day?

Amazon already has Prime Day, and the holiday shopping season was kicked off with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Why does Amazon think that there is a need for it to launch Digital Day?

The reason behind the event is that for the holidays, many gifts that were given are digital devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets, and video game consoles. By launching Digital Day, Amazon will be able to capitalize on the need of customers to fill their new digital devices with content.

Amazon will also be using Digital Day to promote its own services, including the recently launched competitor to Apple Music and Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited, and the company's new reading app for kids, Amazon Rapids. Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions will be offered at a $10 discount, while Amazon Rapids subscriptions will have a 33 percent discount.

What Will Be Offered By Amazon On Digital Day?

Amazon has not yet released a complete list of products and services that will be receiving discounts for Digital Day, but there are some that have already been revealed.

For computer programs, Digital Day will be offering the Office Suite, Norton software, Microsoft Office, and H&R Block with discounts.

For video games, mobile games that will be a part of Digital Day include CN Superstar Soccer: Goal!!!, Cookie Jam, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Disney Crossy Road, Frozen Free Fall: Icy Shot, and Star Wars Commander. For console games, titles that will receive special prices on Digital Day include Destiny: Rise of Iron, Dragonball Z Xenoverse, FIFA 17, Rocket League, and Titanfall 2.

For movies, customers will be able to buy Bolt, Storks, and The Lego Movie at a discount.

To see the complete list of offers under Digital Day, interested customers will just have to log in to their Amazon accounts on Dec. 30.
