Amazon has partnered with third-tier TV brands Seiki, Westinghouse Electronics, and Element Electronics to help these companies come up with their own Amazon Fire TV.
All three brands are built by the Chinese company TongFang Global, and are usually available in retail stores such as BestBuy, Target, and Walmart. The 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs produced by these companies will be equipped with a voice remote featuring Amazon's Alexa.
Announced at CES 2017, the brand new line aims to simplify the television viewing experience by having a great selection of content in just one place, an easy-to-use on-screen programming guide, and an Alexa voice remote wherein users will be able to use their voice to search for something to watch, play music, control their smart home devices, and so many more.
Alexa Makes 4K TV Simple And Easy
Sung Choi, VP of Marketing at TongFang Global, says that TV viewing can sometimes be cumbersome and difficult to use. Choi hopes to change this perception with the launch of the Amazon Fire TV Edition in the three brands mentioned.
"Our new line of 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs — Amazon Fire TV Edition represent an elevated customer experience powered by the highest performance processors in the industry, a unique voice-controlled remote control, and Amazon's cinematic viewing experience," Choi said.
And with the help of Alexa, Choi believes that "access to movies, videos, music, gaming, and more is simple, easy, and intuitive."
Marc Whitten, VP of Amazon's Fire TV division, agrees with Choi's sentiment.
"Teaming up with brands on a new range of smart TVs allows Amazon to deliver an experience that's familiar and easy to use," Whitten said.
What To Expect From The Amazon Fire TV
In a press release, the company said the Amazon Fire TV will come in four sizes: 43", 50", 55" and 65". All sizes will have the 4K Ultra HD display resolution. The TVs also come with an Alexa remote that can be voice-enabled to control third-party smart home brands such as Belkin WeMo, Philips Hue, Wink, Insteon, Samsung SmartThings, and Nest.
Since the company's brand positioning is all about convenience, it will also incorporate the Amazon Fire TV user interface, which boasts an easy TV input setup and access to OTA TV programming. Aside from Alexa, the TVs will also come with 4K video streaming, 3 GB of memory, 16 GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity.
