The purported HTC Ocean, expected to launch as the HTC 11, has just leaked in a new promo video showing off a sleek design with curved edges.

HTC has fallen behind rivals in recent years and Apple and Samsung dominate the smartphone market by a wide margin, but things might change soon enough. If recent rumors are anything to go by, HTC is planning a big comeback with top-notch devices, ready to heat up the competition once again at the high end of the smartphone market.

Before we dive into further details, however, it's worth pointing out that the HTC Note leaked in this new promo video is different from the rumored HTC Ocean Note phablet, which may hit the market as the HTC U Ultra. The HTC Ocean Note should make its debut next week, but the HTC Ocean is a different matter.

That said, let's move on to the latest leak, disclosing intriguing information about the purported HTC Ocean, or HTC 11. The promotional video comes from trusted tipster Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, who posted the news on Twitter.

HTC Ocean (HTC 11) Curved Edge Display

The smartphone featured in the new promo video seems to sport a premium metal build, with the rear camera placed on the upper portion of the handset, centered like on the HTC One A9. The HTC Ocean also seems to have an edge-to-edge display with functional curved edges on the sides, somewhat like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

The promo video shows how users can launch a number of apps from the purported HTC 11's display edge, which serves as a quick launch area. The user can likely predefine which apps appear in the quick launch field.

The HTC smartphone shown in this video doesn't seem to have a physical home button, albeit it does have a small circle right below the display. That circle is likely a capacitive home key, but it could also be an LED notification light or something else.

HTC Smartphones In 2017

HTC is rumored to launch a number of smartphones in 2017, including a trio of handsets dubbed HTC Alpine (HTC U Play), HTC Ocean Note (HTC U Ultra), and HTC E66 (HTC One X10) expected to hit the scene sometime in the first quarter of this year.

The company has a big event scheduled for Jan. 12 and a number of HTC smartphones should become official then, but the HTC Ocean (HTC 11) could debut sometime afterward. HTC will likely unveil some handsets on Jan. 12, but save its top-notch flagships for later.

HTC could host a separate press conference during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in late February - early March, or later on.

With no official word from HTC, however, it's tough to tell just when the HTC Ocean (HTC 11) will break cover and if it will really sport a curved-edge display as shown in this newly leaked video. As always in such cases, it's best to take all leaks and rumors with a grain of salt until a formal announcement.

In the meantime, check out the video below to see what the HTC Ocean (HTC 11) could look like.
