As Samsung continues to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to owners of its current flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, owners of former flagship Galaxy smartphones and other Samsung devices are wondering if and when they will receive the software update as well. A newly published list now clarifies which Samsung devices will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat.

While Samsung rolls out the update for its latest flagships, the company has also been working on the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade for its other devices, and the company has now provided an official rundown of exactly which handsets and tablets will be making the jump to Nougat.

List Of Devices Expected To Be Upgraded To Android 7.0 Nougat

The entire list of devices expected to be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat is so far as follows: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8.

Projected Timeline And Order Of Android 7.0 Nougat Update Release

There is no official timeline regarding when the aforementioned devices will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but Samsung promises them all within the first half of the year. We do have some clues; however, as far as the projected order of release. Given that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are currently receiving their Android Nougat update in a worldwide release, we can expect the flagship's more rugged variant, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, to follow suit shortly. The smartphone was recently spotted running Android 7.0 on Geekbench, indicating the update for the handset could be on its way soon.

The other devices expected to be next in line to get their Android 7.0 Nougat updates are the Galaxy S6 and its variants, the Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy S6 edge, and Galaxy S6 edge+. Samsung was actually confirmed to have been working on the Android Nougat firmware build for the S6 back in November 2016, and as the most recent former flagship for the brand, it should be the next priority.

The Galaxy Note 5 should also take precedence as the most recent flagship phablet for the company, due to the unfortunate Galaxy Note 7 recall. The upper midrange Galaxy A series should then follow, along with the Galaxy Tabs, with the most recent models receiving the update first, although the release may also be simultaneous.

Note that although this is likely to be the planned order of release for the Samsung devices mentioned, that could change depending on the results of the software development phase, where issues and delays could arise.
