Google subscribers all around the globe will be looking to gear up for some more fun as the company has announced its plans of indefinitely extending the Project Fi referral program.

In a bid to lure more customers, Google came up with this referral program in December 2016, which allowed existing customers of Project Fi to refer it to someone new. By doing so, each of the parties had the chance of pocketing a $20 bill credit.

Project Fi is a mobile virtual network operator owned by Google. It provides wireless phone and data services using Wi-Fi and cellular networks belonging to Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Three. With this project, Google made an effort to unify the world's wireless network.

In October, Tech Times reported on the Group Plan that was introduced by Google. However, it seemed that the Referral Plan was one that worked best for the company. After the introduction of this plan, Google received an immense response from its existing customer base as they started introducing this initiative to their friends and family.

Extension Of Plan

The referral program was initially planned to be valid until Jan. 11; however, many users have started reporting that they can still access their respective referral pages with the sign-up option still showing active.

Google Support confirmed the news and said that the company extended the program.

"[T]he Project Fi referral program date has been indefinitely increased due to huge response from the customers," stated Google Support.

Judging by the terms and conditions, it must be noted that Google can withdraw the referral program at any point of time if it wishes so. However, it is highly unlikely that it is going to end the referral program soon, not after this huge response.

Rules And Regulations

Project Fi which is available in more than 135 countries is billed domestically, with monthly plans based on flat rates. Customers availing this plan are required to pay their bills at the start of each billing cycle with $20 per month for unlimited voice calls and messaging. Extra data is priced at $10 for 1 GB. If a user fails to use his allotted 1 GB of data, then it gets credited in his next invoice.

Referral Process

The process to refer a friend is relatively easy. Every customer is provided with a unique referral code that appears at the bottom of their Fi app.

Alternately, they can also get access to it directly from the website. The same page also keeps a record of the number of enrolled users, alongside with the total amount that the customer has received. The eligibility for the upcoming credits is also evaluated.

With every new signing, both the referrer and referee get a credit bonus of $20. However, there are certain conditions attached which include a maximum of 10 referral credits for each customer. The new subscriber is required to keep the account active for at least 30 days with a payment of two months of service. Both of them are also required to have an active Project Fi account which needs to be in good shape.

Users are also advised to check each other's referral status, names, purchase, and the account activation status before sharing the codes.

Project Fi is compatible with tablets and data-only devices, but the phone service will require a Nexus 5X, 6P, or Google Pixel.
