It seems like LG is taking one small step at a time to upgrade LG V20 for its users. LG V20, the world's first smartphone to run on Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box, is up to receive another software update.

Although the latest update — the monthly security patch from Google — does not change the Android version of the phone, it packs in some substantial changes like audio and security patches.

LG V20 Update Package

The December security patch for the LG V20 takes the software version to H91810j per T-Mobile's changelog.

Weighing 583 MB, the update pushed out by T-Mobile for its variant of the handset will contain the Android security patch from Google, which brings an audio patch and a bug fix for Android Pay.

The update brings the Android security patch level of the smartphone to Dec. 1, 2016.

The update was pushed out as an over-the-air (OTA) one, so all users may not be able to get it at the same time. Fret not, as the update is rolled out in phases. LG V20 users need to keep checking for its arrival manually at regular intervals or await an availability alert on their smartphone.

LG V20 Specs

Launched in end October 2016, the LG V20 packs a powerhouse performance under its hood. The 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS Display phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The smartphone has Gorilla Glass 4 protection, a 3,200 mAh battery, and a rear dual-camera setup on (16MP + 8MP). The front-facing camera is 5MP and can capture full HD videos.

The handset comes with 4 GB of RAM, an internal storage memory of 64 GB out of which 50 GB can be used, but it all depends on the carrier one is buying from. The storage can be increased via a microSD card to an additional 2 TB.

Recommendations From T-Mobile

T-Mobile recommends that users keep their phones charged to 50 percent or more. The phone should be connected to Wi-Fi or any high speed data connection and should have a free storage space of 583 MB. Only upon meeting these requirements will the update be successfully installed on their LG V20.

Although the update does not take the phone to Android Nougat 7.1, it improves the security of the mobile. Given that Google Pixel and Nexus are already running on Android Nougat 7.1, users would be hoping that it is high time that the world's first Android 7.0 Nougat-run smartphone catches up.

Those who wish to manually check if the update has hit their device need to navigate to Settings > General > About Device > System Update and then deploy the Check for Update option.
