Those who are keeping vigil for any development regarding the superhero brawler Injustice 2 before its rollout on May 16 have finally hit pay dirt. NetherRealm Studios is about to unleash its beta build, and it is now seeking players willing to join testing.

As is usually the case in these circumstances, interested parties will need to fill a form to register. That form is already up, but at this point, only players using Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are qualified.

The registration itself underscores the limited nature of the beta testing. While the publisher has not identified the exact number of players that will be accepted, there is still the fact that it will be limited. Otherwise, the process would not have been set up in the first place.

Unfortunately, NetherRealm Studios has not released any information detailing the criteria mentioned for the selection of players. It could even be random, but to be sure, check if your rig meets the minimum system requirement.

What To Expect

If selected, you will probably join the fray sufficiently informed. Injustice 2 developers have released a number of contents that provide insights as to the gameplay, the narrative, and mechanics of the brawler.

For example, the beta is purportedly going to largely test the GGPO netcode, and this means that players will not get to play the entire roster of fighters that will ship with the commercial release.

Information about the game's storyline has been released. When Warner Bros. unveiled the game's story trailer, it was also revealed that the entire fighter stable will be constituted of 16 characters, including The Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Batman, Bane, and Poison Ivy. It is not yet clear if that number will get expanded as development moves forward.

Some sources also point to NetherRealm's beta tests in the past, noting that the studio usually allows a very small number of fighters available during the beta and demo stage in the game development. This has been demonstrated in the case of Mortal Kombat and Injustice titles.

Despite a number of drawbacks and potential bugs, taking part in the beta release will allow players to learn the game and its fighting nuances. By the time the stable title becomes available, battle-scarred beta players will certainly have immense advantages over new players.

When it hits the market next May, Injustice 2 will have different price points. The base edition will set you back $60, while the Deluxe and Ultimate editions will retail for $80 and $100, respectively. The game is already available for preorder.
