Good news for Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners on AT&T: the Android 7.0 Nougat update should roll out sometime in early spring.

Both smartphones in the Galaxy S7 series started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat last week in a number of regions, including China and some countries in Europe, with the United States expected to follow shortly.

In China, the Galaxy S7 Nougat update was pulled and replaced with a new beta for some reason, but the issues that led to that decision don't seem to be affecting the global rollout of the update.

Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Nougat Update USA Release

When it comes to the United States, the update has yet to roll out but new information reveals that at least one carrier is making headway in the process. More specifically, U.S. carrier AT&T is reportedly testing the Nougat update on its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices and is shooting for a release sometime around the "beginning of Spring."

The news comes from a Galaxy S7 edge owner who talked to an AT&T representative and shared the highlights of the conversation on the Android Central forums.

Seeing that the global versions of the smartphone are already starting to get the upgrade, the user asked AT&T support when to expect the update for his AT&T Galaxy S7 edge.

AT&T Beta Testing Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Nougat Update

The AT&T rep did not mention any specific date or month for the Nougat release, but did say that the beta testing is already ongoing and the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge should get the Nougat treat in early spring, "after final testing."

This means that if the beta tests go smoothly and without any major hiccups, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge on AT&T should receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update sometime within the next couple of months.

That said, it's also possible that the release could take a bit longer, as it depends on how the beta testing goes. At the same time, this information is not exactly an official announcement from Samsung or AT&T, so it's still advised to take this news with a grain of salt.

Either way, one thing is certain: Samsung has already completed the beta tests for Android 7.0 Nougat on the international versions of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and the update is gradually rolling out to more regions worldwide, so it shouldn't take too long before it reaches the United States as well.

No information is currently available regarding the Android 7.0 Nougat release for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge on other U.S. carriers, but a similar timeframe is expected.

Android 7.0 Nougat will bring a number of neat features and improvements to the table, including new multitasking tools, improved notifications, performance and battery life, more customizations for the Quick Settings panel, enhanced user interface features, Instant Apps, Google Allo and Duo, and more.

As always, we'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
