It seems like Xiaomi is all geared up to launch a new smartphone, as a mysterious device from the company has popped up on a benchmarking site.

An unknown Xiaomi smartphone has been listed on GFXBench, offering a peek into the upcoming device's specifications and features.

The GFXBench listing reveals some features of the smartphone and according to reports, the unknown Xiaomi smartphone could possibly be the Redmi Note 3.

Sources claim that the unknown device may be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 that has been updated with Android 7.1.1 Nougat support.

What Does The GFXBench Listing Reveal?

The features revealed by GFXBench listing of the Xiaomi smartphone point to a 5.7-inch FHD screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The Redmi Note 3 boasted a 5.5-inch screen and, therefore, the likelihood of the listed phone being this device seems improbable.

Under the hood, the listing reveals that the smartphone may house a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, and 3 GB of RAM.

The phone may also be equipped with the Adreno 510 GPU. As for the camera, the Xiaomi smartphone could feature a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The primary camera may offer support for autofocus, flash, HDR photo, face detection, and touch focus.

The GFXBench listing suggests that the device will get Xiaomi's MIUI 8. The Xiaomi smartphone that has been benchmarked will also run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Redmi Note 3 Or New Xiaomi Smartphone?

While industry sources claim that the listed device is indeed the updated version of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 with Android Nougat support and not an entirely new phone, the veracity of this assertion remains circumspect.

A possibility exists that this could be a wrongly listed spec sheet, which is why sources seem to believe that the device listed is not really a new one, but the updated Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with Android Nougat support. This assertion is based on rumors that the Redmi Note 3 would get Android Nougat support in the coming weeks.

While industry insiders seem to be divided in their opinion, things will only become clear when the mysterious smartphone makes an appearance or Xiaomi makes an official announcement.

However, based on the listing, it seems that Xiaomi is poised to release an update in the coming weeks. Whether it will be a new launch or something else remains to be seen. Xiaomi will not be attending this year's MWC in February, but an announcement from the company may still be forthcoming.
