Sony has announced the free games that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download for the month of February, headlined by LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero.

The announcement of the free PlayStation Plus titles is later than usual, but with the aforementioned titles headlining this month's offerings, the wait is very much worth it.

Free Games In February For PlayStation Plus Members

The free games that will be offered to subscribers of the PlayStation Plus service were announced through the official PlayStation blog. The most prominent titles in the lineup are LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero, both of which will be made for free for the PlayStation 4.

LittleBigPlanet 3, the third game in the popular side-scrolling adventure and level-building franchise, draws upon the imagination of players to create a fun-filled experience. Players will join Sackboy and his friends as they travel through various worlds, with players having the ability to unleash their creativity in the levels through tools such as stickers.

LittleBigPlanet 3 was launched in 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, but only the PlayStation 4 version will be made free as a PlayStation Plus offer this month.

Not a Hero, meanwhile, is a brutal but hilarious side-scrolling pixelated shooter that has players take on the role of Steve. The game will have Steve, a professional assassin, serve as the campaign manager for BunnyLord, his anthropomorphic rabbit boss who is running for mayor. Players will need to help Steve fight through the waves of enemies that he will be encountering in the 8-bit action game.

Not a Hero, which initially launched for the PC and Android in 2015, was eventually released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last year.

The other games in the PlayStation Plus lineup of free games include Starwhal, a cross-buy for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 3; Anna - Extended Edition for the PlayStation 3; and Ninja Senki DX and Torquel for the PlayStation Vita, with both titles also cross-buys for the PlayStation 4.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download the free games for the month starting Feb. 7.

PlayStation Plus Subscriptions

PlayStation Plus, the premium online gaming network for the PlayStation, recently increased its membership rates in September 2016 for the first time since it was launched in 2010. From the 12-month subscription price of $50 and the 3-month subscription price of $18, Sony now charges $60 and $25, respectively. The price of $10 for a one-month subscription, however, did not change.

A PlayStation Plus subscription will allow players to take their games online, receive exclusive deals and discounts, and download free games per month. Free PlayStation Plus games can be played beyond the month when it was downloaded, as long as the player maintains his or her subscription.

Last month, the free games offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers included Day of the Tentacle Remastered, a remastered edition of the graphic adventure by LucasArts that was released in 1993, and This War of Mine: The Little Ones, a war survival game that places players in the shoes not of soldiers in the frontlines, but of civilians who are affected.
