It is being reported that customers are canceling their registrations for the Model 3 sedan from Tesla due to Elon Musk's involvement in President Donald Trump's council of advisors.

Following the report, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has clarified his stance and made his viewpoint for not stepping down from the advisory council known through Twitter.

It seems that Musk was forced to give an explanation due to the recent exit of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick from the President's economic council. More than 200,000 Uber accounts were deleted and a huge number of employees left messages condemning Kalanick's involvement with POTUS, which led to his exit from the council.

Why Musk Will Not Quit Advisory Panel

Musk has stated outright in a tweet that he would not leave the advisory council because he believes that his presence does not necessarily mean that he supports all the decisions that are being taken by President Trump. Merely attending council meetings is not indicative of his political leanings.

Musk even tweeted his views on the immigration ban that was enforced a few days ago by Donald Trump.

The response from Tesla enthusiasts has not been as vocal and hostile as it was for Kalanick, which may be why Musk asserts that he would continue to be in the advisory role to the new President. However, things may change if Tesla's customers decide to revolt vehemently.

However, it has not even even been a month since the new President was sworn in so it is relatively early to form any kind of judgement. It seems that Musk may just be trying to ensure that he provides the best advice to the country's leader. His concern for the country and its welfare may be true sentiments that supercede other opinions.

Whatever be the case, the bottomline is that Musk is unwavered as of now, regarding the general opposition he may be facing due to his political affiliations.

Aside from Musk, the advisory council also has Disney's CEO Bob Iger, Walmart's CEO Doug McMillan, as well as PepsiCo's CEO Indra Nooyi.
