Bethesda Studios has announced that Fallout Shelter, the hit mobile management simulator for the iOS and Android, will be coming to the Xbox One and Windows 10.

Since Fallout Shelter was released in 2015, it has been warmly received by players, especially fans of the Fallout franchise. One and a half years later, the game is still very popular among Android and iOS device users.

Fallout Shelter To Arrive On Xbox One And Windows 10

According to an announcement posted on the official Xbox Wire blog, Fallout Shelter will be available for download as an Xbox Play Anywhere title on Feb. 7. On that date, players can start downloading the free game from either the Xbox Store or Windows Store.

In Fallout Shelter, players take on the role of an Overseer who manages the community of Dwellers living inside a Vault. Players need to make sure that the inhabitants of the Vault are happy with well-maintained facilities while sending citizens out to scavenge for valuables and protecting the Vault when Raiders attack.

Since Fallout Shelter was launched, there have been many additional features introduced to the game. These include additional rooms, pets, crafting, scrapping, special customization options for Dwellers, and iconic characters from Fallout 4.

One of the most significant updates to Fallout Shelter was released in July 2016, as it introduced a new quest system and revamped the combat mechanics of the mobile game.

What's New With The Xbox One And Windows 10 Version Of Fallout Shelter?

Fallout Shelter has actually been previously released for the PC, alongside the aforementioned update. The PC port required players to download the Bethesda Launcher, which also hosts the Fallout 4 Creation Kit.

However, with the release of Fallout Shelter as an Xbox Play Anywhere title for the Xbox One and Windows 10, players will now be able to share their progress between their console and their PC. Users will be able to seamlessly switch between the two versions, with their saves, progress, and achievements all shared between the Xbox One and Windows 10 version of the game.

In addition, as the game moved away from the touchscreens of smartphones, Bethesda has fully adapted Fallout Shelter to be played using the Xbox One controller.

The in-app purchases found in the mobile version of the game will still be present, though, allowing players to spend real money to speed up gameplay and gain access to unlockable items. However, most of the things that can be acquired in Fallout Shelter can be earned without having to resort to in-app purchases.

The State Of The Fallout Franchise

The release of Fallout Shelter in 2015 was actually a surprise to most gamers, as all the focus on that year was on Fallout 4.

Bethesda has supported both Fallout Shelter and Fallout 4 heavily since they were released. Bethesda claims that the Nuka-World DLC is the last one that will be coming to Fallout 4, but the publisher recently announced visual upgrades coming to the open-world game, including a high-resolution texture pack for the PC version that is free but demands powerful specifications from the machines of players.
