Microsoft is offering some attractive deals on the lower end models of the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.

The price of the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 have been reduced by $250 and $200, respectively.

All other prices remain unchanged and it is not known for certain why there has been these recent discounts that are being offered by Microsoft.

The price cut, however, suggests that something is brewing and Microsoft may possibly be looking to clear the inventory as it prepares for the debut of the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5.

The Discounted Prices

The standard model of the Surface Book which includes an i5 processor with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is currently retailing at $1,649. This model is usually priced at $1,899.

The 128 GB model with an i5 processor and 8GB of RAM is now available for $1,299 instead of $1,499.

The standard model of the Surface Pro 4 which comes with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD and Surface Pen is now retailing at just $699.

Rumored Specs Of the Microsoft Surface Book 2

The Surface Book 2 is rumored to be under development and it is likely that when the device is released, it would feature a Kaby Lake processor.

In terms of its display, the Surface Book 2 may sport a 13.5-inch screen with 4K resolution and VR support.

The battery of the device would need to be quite hefty if it has to support a 4K display. However, it is not yet known how Microsoft plans to achieve this if the rumors are true.

Release Of Surface Book 2

The Surface Book 2 from Microsoft is expected to debut in March. There are high expectations from fans that some news or statement will be released by the company soon if they intend to launch the device in the first half of the year.

The price tag which this device will sport is also something which has been speculated widely and is believed to be somewhere around $1,499 for the base model.

The recent discounts being offered on the older device may be construed by some as a sign that Microsoft is moving out the older stock to make way for the product that it may launch. Whatever be the case, for now fans will just have to wait and hope for an official statement from the company.
