James Corden, host of CBS late night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden, is set to host the upcoming Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, a gig he landed largely due to his show's "Carpool Karaoke" segments that have gone massively viral. But will Corden feature a "Carpool Karaoke" segment or variation thereof on the big music awards show?

James Corden's U.S. Rise In Popularity

James Corden is best known in the U.S. for the extremely popular "Carpool Karaoke" segments that are featured regularly on his late-night chat show The Late Late Show with James Corden. Although the UK native was a virtual unknown when he was chosen to succeed Craig Ferguson in the 12:30 weeknight time slot on CBS, he is now almost a household name, mainly due to the viral success of the "Carpool Karaoke" segments that took the internet by storm.

Corden's mobile hybrid sing along interviews with the likes of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, Mariah Carey and numerous other A list pop stars have become among the most viewed videos on YouTube, where they are routinely posted after first airing on The Late Late Show. In fact, Corden's ride with Adele proved to be the number one most watched video of 2016 on YouTube.

James Corden Set To Host Grammys

Anyone who has watched Corden's segments knows by now that he's a true music lover, and that's what makes him the perfect choice to host the upcoming Grammy Awards on Feb. 12 at The Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"Music means the world to me," explained Corden. "At its best, music has the ability to make you feel like you're not on your own. That, I think, is an unbelievably powerful thing. In times of joy or sorrow, someone you've never met can somehow, in three minutes, reach out a hand and tell you these things that you're feeling are not particular to you. And that it will all be OK."

"Carpool Karaoke" On Grammys?

So the big question on everybody's mind is whether Corden will in fact feature some sort of "Carpool Karaoke" on the Grammys. Alas, it appears that may not be in the cards, due to what the host says is a lack of time. All in all there are only 18 minutes or so of free time for Corden to do his thing during the hosting gig, which means a regular "Carpool" segment, which usually lasts for 10 or more minutes, wouldn't fit the awards show format.

Although Corden has publicly denied any version of "Carpool Karaoke" is set for the Grammys, that doesn't mean it won't be featured in some sort of truncated form. It's safe to say that if some sort of segment were being planned, Corden would not want to reveal the surprise to viewers in advance, so stay tuned to the show to find out for sure what he has in store.
