Users of The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, Torrentz2, Rarbg, 1337x, Kickass Torrents and other file sharing sites are subject to a new warning system in the UK. A user who has received one of the first warning emails has just revealed the details of the system and what other users may expect.

The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, Torrentz2, Rarbg, 1337x, Kickass Torrents: New Warning System

We recently brought you the news that the UK was getting ready to implement a new warning system for users of torrent sites like The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, Torrentz2, Rarbg, 1337x, and Kickass Torrents, who may be engaging in potentially copyright infringing activity, just as the U.S. has ended a similar approach. Now, a UK file sharer who used a torrent website to share a copy of HBO's Westworld has shared copies of the material he received and the contents of the dedicated website set up by his ISP.

The "Get It Right" program, which has no punitive consequences and has been presented as an educational warning system, is being implemented by UK ISPs BT, Sky, TalkTalk, and Virgin Media, as well as NOW TV (owned by Sky) and PlusNet (owned by BT).

Details Of Sky "Get It Right" Warning Email

A Sky subscriber has just shared details of the "educational email" sent to him by his ISP. The email reads in part, as follows:

"Sky, along with other internet service providers, is supporting the 'Get It Right from a Genuine Site' initiative. This initiative aims to support Britain's creative industry by helping to reduce copyrighted material being shared illegally. We've been informed by owners of copyrighted material that the content below has been shared without their permission and we need your help in preventing this happening again."

The email goes on to list the offending content, in this case an episode of HBO's Westworld, along with the date and time of the alleged infringement. The email directs, but does not require, the user to access the "Get It Right Information Portal" via a series of links, which lead to a more detailed account of the user's alleged activity, including his IP address.

Interestingly, although the user describes himself as a heavy torrent user and the detailing lists Utorrent as the application used to access the material, he says that he did not download the Westworld episode from The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, Torrentz2, Rarbg, 1337x, Kickass Torrents or another peer to peer download protocol but instead watched it for 10 minutes on Popcorn Time, and received the email the following day.
