Gotta go fast!

That's how the annual music-and-multimedia fest South By Southwest (SXSW) described the Sonic the Hedgehog panel that will be present in SXSW 2017. Sonic developer Sega is releasing two games this year: the upcoming Project Sonic 2017, and the classic collection Sonic Mania.

The Sonic panel will entertain players, fans and the media when it opens on March 16 in Austin, Texas.

Sonic Swings By SXSW 2017

The Sonic panel in this year's SXSW was revealed in its official schedule.

"Dive into the world of Sonic the Hedgehog in this exclusive behind-the-scenes look at both Sonic Mania and the upcoming Sonic 2017," the teaser post opened.

Four notable Sonic and Sega personalities confirmed attendance for the event. The Sonic panel will be composed of Aaron Webber, PR and social media manager for Sonic the Hedgehog (check out this blazing blue furball's official Twitter account); Mike Pollock, voice actor of Dr. Eggman; Roger Smith, voice of Sonic himself; and Takashi Iizuka, director of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Like in most conventions and conferences, the panel will be open for questions from fans and media. They will also "showcase a new reveal for each title," as SXSW noted. The panel is also expected to discuss Sonic's "resurgence in the world of gaming."

Sonic Speed Times Two

Two games are slated to be featured in the said panel.

One is the yet-untitled upcoming Project Sonic 2017. In a trailer shown in July 2016, Sonic is shown about to battle giant robots who have wrecked a city. Not much is known about the project, but the trailer left a teaser at the end, egging people to "join the resistance." The upcoming game will be launched for Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The other one is Sonic Mania, a classic Sonic game also slated for multiplatform release. According to Sega's post, the game celebrates the "best of Classic Sonic." The game has been remastered with "stunning 60 fps gameplay and pixel-perfect physics."

Fans of the classic speedy hedgehog can play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as they "race through all-new Zones and fully re-imagined classics" to fight and defeat Dr. Eggman's nasty robots while unlocking a "myriad of never-before-seen hidden paths and secrets!"

The Sonic panel can be accessed by attendees with Platinum Badge, Interactive Badge, Film Badge, Music Badge, and Gaming Wristband. The session will last from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on March 16.
