Are Apple Store employees not selling you the LG 5K UltraFine Display? Well, you're not alone.

The brass, so to speak, of the Cupertino brand told the people on the floor not to hand over the monitors to interested customers and instead refer them to the official website to place an order, and it's all because of hardware issues, problems serious enough that it made Apple choose to temporarily stop sales.

Apple Puts The LG 5K UltraFine Display On Hold

Citing an unnamed Apple Store representative in New York, Business Insider got to the bottom of things, confirming that the employees were instructed to keep the LG 5K UltraFine Display in plain view around the shop and to not sell any supplies they had to buyers.

As mentioned earlier, anyone who does want to get their hands on the monitor will have to go to the Apple website. At the time of this writing, it still has an estimated shipping time of between five and six weeks, but according to "someone close to the matter," it will soon be taken down.

The LG 5K UltraFine Display Hardware Issues Were Too Much

For the uninitiated, users have been reporting that the LG 5K UltraFine Display glitches when it's positioned near — or about 6.6 feet — select Wi-Fi routers, rendering them unusable. The monitors are said to either start flickering, black out, or freeze.

After some time, LG confirmed the matter and figured out that it's a proximity problem, promising to equip later units with enhanced shielding.

The thing is, it's not that easy to set up all the new monitors with the solution, causing a delay, and as evidence to that, the shipping estimate had to go up to five to six weeks, instead of the previous three to five days.

That's not all either, as there are also reports about the monitor getting disconnected even when there's no router nearby.

Put simply, most of the monitors were riddled with headaches that consumers didn't exactly expect.

A Supposed Match Made In Heaven: LG 5K UltraFine Display And 2016 MacBook Pro

It's no mystery that the LG 5K UltraFine Display was made for the new MacBook Pro, but needless to say, the problems kept users from enjoying their monitors.

As a refresher, it offers an impressive 5,120 x 2,880 resolution and P3 wide color gamut, measuring at 27 inches. More than that, it also features three USB-C ports to expand connectivity options, built-in stereo speakers, a camera, and even a mic.

Originally priced at $1,299.99, the monitor will be available for $974 until March 31 — that is, of course, when Apple starts selling them again.

The Bottom Line

Long story short, Apple had to suspend sales of the LG 5K UltraFine Display because of some hardware issues, and until the companies involved resolve them, users will have to hold off from putting the device on their shopping lists.
