Apple's upcoming iPhone 8 continues to make headlines ahead of its official launch. A new report claims that the smartphone will feature a 5.8-inch OLED display with stainless steel and glass design, while the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will retain aluminum design.

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since Steve Jobs unveiled the first-generation iPhone at Macworld 2007. Apple fans had been hoping the company would do for smartphones what it did for the MP3 player with the release of the iPod. Since then, reports about what Apple supposedly has in store for its next-generation iPhone have become some of the biggest tech stories of the year.

Apple To Release iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, And iPhone 8 In 2017

Apple is widely expected to release a special 10th anniversary iPhone 8 in the fall, alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Model numbers for the smartphones leaked last December, along with the iPhone 8's codename, "Ferrari." A new report provides details on what Apple supposedly has in store for its next-generation iPhones in terms of design materials.

Premium Materials For iPhone 8 Design

DigiTimes is reporting that sources from the upstream supply chain claim the iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8-inch OLED display with stainless steel frame and reinforced glass.

"The reinforced glass chassis' stainless steel metal frame will be supplied by Foxconn Technology and US-based Jabil Circuit, while the aluminum-alloy chassis will be supplied by Catcher Technology," a source told the publication.

iPhone 7s And iPhone 7s Plus To Retain Aluminum Design

Meanwhile, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will continue to use an aluminum-alloy chassis design, most likely using the same shell of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as Apple typically does with its "s" moniker devices.

The high-end glass and stainless steel design and 5.8-inch curved edge OLED display is expected to drive the cost of the iPhone 8 upwards of $1,000 according to recent reports. The smartphone will reportedly include an advanced iris scanner that will allow users to unlock the handset and authorize mobile payments using their eyes and also include possible gesture recognition technology.

The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are expected to retain 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD displays like that of their predecessors. Like all previous "s" moniker iPhones, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will feature upgraded internals, including an A11 processor, additional RAM to keep things running smoothly, and updated cameras.

You can bet this won't be the last time you hear about the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus, and as always, we'll keep you posted on any new information.
