Two years after her cancer diagnosis, actress Shannen Doherty has finally completed her chemotherapy and she celebrated the victory by posting a photo of herself on Instagram.

The relaxed-looking photo was accompanied by an inspiring message for those who are battling cancer. As of now, Doherty remains positive and hopeful as she is waiting for the results of her treatment.

Shannen's Battle With Cancer

The 45-year-old actress is no stranger to battling health issues. In 1999, Doherty was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and in 2015, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. By 2016, Doherty's cancer had already spread to her lymphatic system. In that same year, Doherty had a mastectomy and continued with her chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Throughout her treatment and battle with cancer, Doherty remained positive, sharing her journey with her Instagram followers. Apart from sending out inspirational messages to other cancer survivors, Doherty also remains active both in her physical health and in her activism for animal rights. The star of hit series Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed continues to inspire her followers on Instagram even as she struggles with the disease by showing not only strength, but gratitude to her medical team as well.

Celebrity Battles With Cancer

Only recently, Logan actor Hugh Jackman shared his own battle with cancer after his sixth basal cell carcinoma diagnosis. In the post, the actor urged his supporters to wear sunscreen. Actor Ben Stiller also had his own cancer diagnosis in 2014 but has since been cancer-free after having the tumor removed, while supermodel Janice Dickinson is currently battling the breast cancer that was diagnosed last March.

Other celebrities who have battled and won over breast cancer are Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon, Australian pop superstar Kylie Minogue, Christina Applegate whose mother is also a breast cancer survivor, Grease superstar Olivia Newton-John, and country music singer Sheryl Crow who had been raising money for cancer awareness even before her own diagnosis.

The way things are going, it sure looks like Doherty is on the way to joining the ranks of these women who have overcome breast cancer.
