Huawei has unveiled not one but two smartphones at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, officially taking the wraps off the P10 and P10 Plus.

Having similar factors across the board, including but not limited to specs and their names, the two handsets do have some noteworthy differences.

Long story short, the larger variant has some advantages over the smaller one, but of course, that statement alone leaves a lot to the imagination.

On that note, here's a closer look between the duo.

Huawei P10, P10 Plus Specs: Different Name, Essentially The Same

First things first, Huawei fitted both the P10 and P10 Plus with the new Kirin 960 and a microSD card slot.

More than that, the rear dual-camera setup on both devices is composed of a 12-megapixel camera paired with a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. That's a step-up from the P9's configuration, but that's not all that's been upgraded in this department, as the front-facing selfie snapper is now powered by Leica's optics.

Also, the two will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and sport 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 to keep scratches at bay.

Now that the similarities have been cleared up, it's time to get right on with the differences.

To no one's surprise, the obvious contrasting specification is the display size, with the P10 measuring at 5.1 inches with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution at 432 ppi, and the P10 Plus at 5.5 inches with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution at 540 ppi.

With more space inside, Huawei naturally made the most out of the capacity of the P10 Plus, equipping it with a 3,750 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the smaller sibling has a 3,200 mAh cell, which is quite an improvement from P9's 3,000 mAh offering.

Regarding memory, the P10 and P10 Plus will both be available with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage, but the latter will also have a variant that takes things up a notch to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

According to the official specs pages of the P10 and P10 Plus, the color options are Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, and Greenery. However, the P10 is the only one of the two that'll be available in Prestige Gold.

Huawei P10, P10 Plus Pricing And Availability

The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are expected to start rolling out sometime in March to more than 20 countries with a price tag of €649 (or about $685) and €699 (or about $738) respectively. As for the P10 Plus with 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM, it's priced at €799 (or about $844).

More Huawei P10, P10 Plus Features Worth Noting

Before wrapping things up, it should be pointed out that the Huawei P10 lineup's features include Super Charging technology that provides 50 percent of juice in just about 30 minutes and a Hyper Diamond-Cut finish that reinforces scratch resistance and decreases smudges, but it's only for select color options.

In terms of taking pictures, the device has an "adaptive selfie" mode, allowing it to automatically detect whether the user is taking a solo portrait or a group shot, which Huawei refers to as "groufie." Putting a lot of emphasis on photos, the smartphone maker also added in a bokeh mode to boot.

Last but not least, the P10 Plus is touted to be the first in the world to support 4.5G LTE connectivity.

"As culture and technology continue to intersect in every aspect of our world, we want to deliver new products and experiences that ultimately improve and enhance life. Our impressive new Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus weave together the exceptional imaging capabilities of Leica and our stand-out design and hardware innovations to bring users a powerful device experience," Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO, says.
