After a long wait, NVIDIA has finally taken the wraps off the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card, which betters not only the existing GTX 1080, but also one ups the legendary Titan X Pascal.

The company claims that the GTX 1080 Ti is the fastest gaming GPU in the world. NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun has called it the "Ultimate GeForce" and one shouldn't be surprised by this title.

NVIDIA unveiled the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti at the Game developers Conference (GDC) on Feb. 28.

"It's time for something new, something that's 35 percent faster than a GTX 1080, something that's faster than Titan X Let's call it the ultimate GeForce," shared the company's CEO. "Year after year after year videogames are getting more and more beautiful, so we're introducing the next generation high end so you're ready to enjoy next generation games."

GTX 1080 Ti Features

Rumor mills have been churning out reports of the GeForce 1080 Ti being completed and ready for use. It was reportedly waiting for AMD's competing card which was to be on the lines of its Vega. NVIDIA's launch time incidentally coincided with AMD's event. However, AMD abstained from launching or announcing anything new.

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has been designed to easily manage the graphic demands of 4K gaming asserts the company and it will offer unparalleled VR experiences.

The new graphics card not only packs a punch, it also cools! The GTX 1080 Ti is equipped with a novel thermal solution that allows for high airflow, as well as "vapor chamber cooling."

It deploys the Pascal architecture and can offer boosts of up to 1.6GHz, as well as an "OC" clock of 2GHz. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will also offer 12 billion transistors and 3584 CUDA cores. These specs are similar to the muscle-wielding Titan X Pascal, which was launched in August 2016.

The GTX1080 Ti has full 3584 core assembles of the Titan, along with 11 GB of RAM or GDDR5X. The 11 GB of RAM is necessary in today's world because games are increasingly using more RAM according to the company.

Even though the GeForce uses the classic GDDR5X RAM instead of the HBM2, NVIDIA is confident that it can maximize and extract the same potential from the GDDR5X. Interestingly, AMD is touted to use HBM 2 in its Vega GPU.

How Is It Different From GeForce GTX 1080?

The new graphics card is identical to the GeForce GTX 1080 externally, but the power supply and cooling solution of the card have been redesigned. The card carries a rating of 220W TDP, which is better than the GTX 1080 but less than the Titan X Pascal's 250 Watts.

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is approximately 35 percent faster than the GTX 1080, when it comes to performance. This what makes the GTX 1080 Ti the most powerful Ti card till date. The GTX 980 Ti was faster than the GTX 980 by 25 percent and the GTX 780 Ti offered an 18 percent faster speed.

Release And Price

The monstrous gaming card is set to be released for sale next week and gaming enthusiasts will be desperate to get their hands on this latest juicy gaming card. The GTX 1080 Ti is set cost $699.99 and those interested can sign-up for notifications on its availability.

A lot of hype has surrounded the GTX 1080 Ti and it is already being labeled "the greatest Ti card ever" and the "ultimate GeForce card." It can only be hoped that the card does pack as strong a punch as it is expected to.
