Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus on March 29 in New York City. A report claims the new smartphones will be available for preorder on April 10.

Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Launch

With just a few weeks to go before its March 29 Unpacked event to launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, details of the smartphones are leaking on a daily basis. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have already starred in a leaked video, which provided a short hands-on look of both devices powered on. The video also gave viewers a look at the near bezel-less dual curved edge Super AMOLED displays that are among the main new features of Samsung's 2017 flagship smartphone lineup.

Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Release Date Confirmed

We reported in late February that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus release date was confirmed for April 21 but Samsung had not yet settled on an exact date to begin preorders of its new smartphones. We now reportedly have a date you can mark your calendars for.

Preorder The Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be available to preorder beginning on April 10. The smartphones are expected to have a more expensive starting price compared to that of last year's flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 base model will reportedly be around $900, although carriers will offer customers installment plans to pay for the handsets over time.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to use a 5.8-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD super AMOLED Infinity Display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will rock a 6.2-inch screen. The pair will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor or Samsung Exynos chip depending on region, Adreno 540 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 4 GB of RAM. The handsets will include 64 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 256 GB micrSD cards.

Samsung has relocated the home button with embedded fingerprint reader to the rear of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which is now located next to the reported 12-megapixel camera. The pair are also believed to feature an 8-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera and iris scanner that will allow users to unlock the devices with their face.

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, ship with a 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh non-removable battery, and feature a metal and glass design that is both waterproof and dust-resistant.

As always, we'll keep you posted on any new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus news as it becomes available.
